Welcome to We’re All in This Together. Thank you for joining me on my journey.
This blog was designed to introduce readers to diversity and to give me somewhere to complete my academic requirements for a unit on children and young adult literature. While different posts here will focus on different aspects of young adult literature it is my contention that our diversity colours everything. Diversity may not be a simple as religion, sexual preferences or race. But musical preference, generational differences and medical issues all constitute diversity, all add to the melting pot that is a culture. As well as the requirements for the unit I will be adding videos weekly showcasing different ways people can be diverse. The videos will all be put on the page How Diverse Are We?.
More information about me and this blog can be found on the About page.
The Weekly Video
The video for the week is from Buzzfeed. Generations Throughout History (BuzzFeedVideo, 2017) briefly tells the evolution of the 7 living generations what influenced them and their perspectives. It is from an American viewpoint but realistically that doesn’t make it less relevant to Australia or the rest of the western world. America was directly impacted by the incidents mentioned early on with everyone else only feeling shock waves but for later generations with the rise of technology the world changed the way people felt incident changed. It is useful to remember that all generations are different, impacted by different events and it can be a reminder that people are the same, we are all influenced by the events that shape our lives.
